An extensive two-month journey through Australia has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was stranded by the vessel on a distant island.

Suzanne Rees had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the excursion for a break. The liner left without her and came back later that day after the crew became aware the lady was missing.

An extensive hunt discovered her body the next day.

Officials are investigating the event, together with police and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer announced that guests and personnel on the ship were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and earlier mechanical issues".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that passengers would be given a total repayment, and said the company was working "to arrange the travel back of the passengers via private aircraft".

Authorities also released an revised statement, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Commander" preventing any new passengers from getting on the liner.

The representative said that they would inspect the vessel in Cairns upon its arrival.

The liner initially left the Australian port on October 24th, and was just two days into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's demise. The tropical location was the opening port on the itinerary.

Travelers on the vessel - who usually pay substantial amounts of dollars to participate in the expedition - were ferried there for a daily excursion with the possibility of hiking or snorkeling.

The child of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "surprised and saddened that the vessel left the island after an organised tour without my mother".

Through her comments, she characterized her mum as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a participant of a walking club.

"According to scant details we have been told, it looks that there was a lapse of care and common sense," she mentioned.

She further stated that she desired the inquiry would be able to determine what "the operator should have undertaken that might have saved Her life".

"According to reports from the police that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she became unwell on the hill climb," she stated.

"She was asked her to head down, alone. Then the boat left, seemingly without performing a headcount.

Organization Reaction

Through an announcement, the Head verified that the company was "collaborating extensively with investigators to aid their inquiry".

He stated that the company was "very regretful that this has occurred" and had extended its complete assistance to the family.

The ship accommodates up to a hundred twenty travelers with forty-six crew, according to corporate information. It was specifically designed to access isolated areas of Australia's shoreline and is equipped with "small boats" - minor craft used to ferry passengers on land visits.

Occurrences such as this are uncommon, and cruise ships have procedures to track which passengers are boarding or disembarking, according to travel authorities.

Cruise lines take these procedures extremely carefully and have "advanced technology in place to avoid such occurrences from happening," the authority continued.
