The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Arrives, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
