New England Equal Longest Winning Streak Since Tom Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has scored five scores during the current campaign
New England equaled their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they overcame AFC East opponents the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the New England's advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two victories and eight defeats
The visitors had scored first at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the Jets' opening drive
But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been fantastic for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on the rookie. "He wants to be outstanding."
Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side wrapped up the triumph
