Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
