Alarming Footage Reveals Instant Law Enforcement Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush
One senior officer that leaped to the aid of a partner who was ambushed by a knife attacker received the King's Commendation for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he pressed a knife to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a driver following a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera video made public by the agency depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a blade pointed forward.
He ran into the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the street, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the knife.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a clear shot, ending the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide assistance on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sgt Ansell suffered two deep cuts to his throat and more cuts to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.
Officials reported Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his partner's blood loss prior to paramedics reached the scene.
The latest recognition comes after the trio of policemen received departmental Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local officer association in April 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Valor Recognition in July 2024.
